The Windows 7 Experience...thus far

This might be the OS that brings alot of pissed off Vista users back to M$. And why not? Its a lot more compatible and a lot more stable than Vista. I know this because i managed to get it booting on an almost 4 year old laptop. Yes, i eventually found a guide to install 7 over a network, and suprisingly, given the amount of things i had to do, i had it all set up from nothing within an hour.

So far i can say that even in the Beta stage, this is truly a great OS. On barely 512MB RAM i'm managing to boot up, load a couple apps like msn and firefox and the like, and multitask pretty well. My only gripe? Device drivers. With my laptop being so old, most of the drivers for my Graphics card and Sound card were designed for XP. Although there is a posibility of Vista drivers for the sound card, which might end up working. But i really doubt it.

The graphics card is an Intel 910/915GL or something, which as far as i know has ZERO! Vista support. Nada, nix, nuh uh. I managed to get the latest XP drivers which installed ok.....i lie. After a couple of tries they installed but when i applied my new display settings, the graphics all went garbled and i ended up rebooting to previous config and uninstalling the device. PAIN IN THE ASS! So i tried the older drivers for XP. Installed beautifully, applied my new settings successfully, and rebooted. Everything seemed to be going well. My desktop appeared in full resolution, full colour, all my icons perfectly shaped again. I cannot describe the excitement contained within me at that moment....although it only lasted briefly.

OH YEAH.....i bricked Windows 7....briefly. For some reason, after booting up, the OS decided it didnt agree with my drivers and decided to freeze. Rebooted again, got excited when things started loading, clicked the start menu to open an app.......FROZEN! I lathered, rinsed and repeated a number of times......in vain. Safe Mode FTW.

So now im stuck with a second laptop that has no sound, everything on my screen looks like its been squashed by an anvil, but my MSN and Firefox still work good :)

Of course, i could always just boot into linux when i need to use it for something, but theres just something about booting into 7 and using it that captures me.....is this love?

Tribute to Why-Not

Early this morning, up before the sun, headed straight for my laptop and headphones. Yes, you can breathe now. The mix should be up by the end of this post and i got one thing to say......The Gigitsu has arrived. Probably not my best mix ever, one or two hiccups in there and i WILL get around to redoing it at some point, but given the fact i havent done this in what, 9 months?

I took mostly new tracks, mostly stuff u wanna go crazy and dance too or just scream your fucking head off. If you want track names or the list, u can email me or leave a comment and i will be more than happy to oblige. If the link is down, do the same thing so i can fix it. But really, i'm happy with what i have accomplished today....to the point i refuse to take of my headphones. I'm making breakfast with them on looking like a neckbrace around my neck. I even got so caught up during the mix i might have shed a few tears cos the tunes were just......aaagh ma gaaad.

It's time people.....is this the year of Gigitsu?

I should fucking hope so. (BTW Why-Not is a club in Vienna that i used to go to alot. Still one of my favourites :)
